1. Charminar

2. Laad Bazaar

A short walk from Charminar is the Mecca Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in the city. It’s huge, peaceful, and made of granite with impressive architecture. You don’t need to spend a lot of time here unless you want to, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Dress modestly and be respectful—this is an active place of worship. 4. Chowmahalla Palace
Just about 10 minutes away by car is Chowmahalla Palace. If you like old buildings, vintage cars, or want a quiet stroll through history, this place is perfect. It used to be the seat of the Nizams, and the palace is now a museum with lovely gardens and courtyards. 5. Salar Jung Museum
Hop back into your car and head towards the Salar Jung Museum, one of the largest museums in India and one of the must visit places in Hyderabad. It’s about a 15-minute drive from the palace. It has an insanely large collection of art, sculptures, weapons, manuscripts, and more—from around the world. Check out the “Veiled Rebecca,” a marble statue that looks like it’s draped in a sheer veil, carved from a single block of stone. Even if you’re not a museum person, spend at least an hour here.
6. Lunch Break
By now, you’ve probably worked up an appetite. Lucky for you, you’re near the Old City. Head straight to Hotel Shadab or Pista House for some authentic Hyderabadi biryani. Both places are casual and quick, and the food is absolutely worth it. Paradise in Secunderabad or Bawarchi on RTC X Roads is in the central part of the city and is iconic as well. Ask anyone and they’ll guide you there—Hyderabadis take their biryani seriously.
7. Hussain Sagar Lake & Tank Bund
Visit this scenic manmade lake with a giant Buddha statue in the middle. There are boat rides if you’re up for it, but even a drive along the Tank Bund road gives you great views. In the evening, the area lights up and you’ll see families, food stalls, and couples just hanging around. There are ample reasons why it’s considered one of the iconic places in Hyderabad.
8. Lumbini Park or NTR Gardens
If you’re traveling with kids or just want to stretch your legs, Lumbini Park or NTR Gardens are nearby and great for a short stroll. They’re well-maintained, with greenery and snacks, and a good place to relax before you get back into the car. There’s also a laser show at Lumbini Park in the evening, which is quite fun if you decide to stay till then.
9. Birla Mandir
Not too far from the lake area is Birla Mandir, a white marble temple located on top of a hill. Not exactly a tourist magnet, we still consider it as one of Hyderabad must visit places. You’ll have to walk up some steps, but it’s not too tough. Sunset here is beautiful. Since cars aren’t allowed up to the top, there’s a parking space below where you can leave your car.
10. Qutb Shahi Tombs
Next, head to the Qutb Shahi Tombs. They don’t get as much attention as the other places, but they’re absolutely worth it. These are the tombs of the rulers who built parts of the city long before the Nizams came into power. The domes, gardens, and architecture here are amazing, and the place is not too crowded. A little offbeat, but one of the best stops if you like history and peaceful surroundings.
11. Golconda Fort
Now this one’s a must. Golconda Fort is a massive structure, and the views from the top are stunning. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the Qutb Shahi Tombs. Try to get there by late afternoon so you can climb up before sunset. It’s a bit of a hike to the top, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water. There’s also a sound and light show in the evening, which is quite popular. If you’re doing a late-day visit, the show is a good way to wrap up your fort experience.
12. Evening Tea & Osmania Biscuits
Now’s the time for some Irani chai and Osmania biscuits. Stop by Nimrah Café near Charminar or go to Subhan Bakery or Café Bahar if you’re near the city center. The strong tea with soft, salty biscuits feels very Hyderabadi in essence.
13. Shopping at Jubilee Hills or Banjara Hills
A shopper’s paradise awaits you at Jubilee Hills or Banjara Hills. These are upscale areas with boutiques, cafes, and stores selling everything from traditional wear to trendy fashion. A far cry from the Old City—you’ll see just how diverse Hyderabad really is.
